BaoBao Skin Strengthens Product Transparency with Independent ISO 24444:2019 SPF Testing
BaoBao Skin understands that the credibility of SPF testing depends primarily on the testing method, laboratory accreditation, clinical testing capability, and report validity. With this in mind, BaoBao Skin selected Zurko Research S.L., an independent European specialist laboratory based in Spain, to conduct SPF evaluation according to International Organization for Standardization: ISO 24444:2019 In Vivo SPF Test Method.

The SPF study was conducted according to the international standard ISO 24444:2019, an in vivo test method used to determine the Sun Protection Factor on human skin. The study measured SPF using the Minimal Erythema Dose (MED) method, comparing the UV exposure response of product-protected skin with unprotected skin.
A controlled amount of product, 2.00 ± 0.05 mg/cm², was applied to the volunteers’ skin. UV exposure was then carried out using a solar simulator, and the skin response was assessed between 16 and 24 hours after UV exposure.
In accordance with ISO 24444:2019 requirements, a total of 13 female volunteers, aged 19 to 47 years, with an ITA° (Individual Typology Angle) value greater than 28°, participated in the study. Among them, data from 3 volunteers were excluded due to invalid erythemal responses. Therefore, the final SPF result was calculated based on 10 valid volunteer results.
ITA° (Individual Typology Angle) is an objective measurement used to classify skin pigmentation. It is calculated based on L* lightness value and b* yellow-blue value. A higher ITA° value generally indicates a lighter skin tone, while a lower ITA° value indicates higher pigmentation.
According to the independent laboratory report, BaoBao Skin Watery Sun Essence SPF 50+ PA++++ recorded an average Sun Protection Factor value of SPF 52.0.
